I first met Robert Berdan at Peterson’s Point Lake Lodge in 2006.  Rob was collecting photographs for the lodge website that he was developing and I was enjoying the tundra with my family, prior to guiding that fall.  I had the chance to show Rob some of the Lake and, in return, learned some things about photography.  Since then I have had the pleasure to assist with the 2009 & 2010 Arctic Adventure Photography Workshops at Point Lake.

With the exception of a short stay in the Northwest Territories, I have always lived in the northern parts of Alberta and British Columbia.  I enjoy the outdoors and have grown up exploring my backyard - hunting, trapping and fishing.  Although I’ve been interested in photography since I was a youngster with a Kodak instamatic, I’ve never considered myself a photographer; I’m a picture taker.  I take pictures of some of the places and things I have encountered in my backyard so I can share them with others.  My job and leisure activities afforded me the ability to explore my backyard and visit many of the beautiful locations in northern British Columbia.  Northeast BC provides unlimited opportunities for a wildlife or nature photographer with an abundance of wildlife and unspoiled vistas.  Come with me on a short tour:

The boreal forest which stretches from the farmland north and west to the Rocky Mountains has an abundance of wildlife and captivating vistas for a photographer.

The Alaska Highway winds its way through northwest BC from the agricultural belt, through the boreal forest and into the Rocky Mountains, on its way to the Yukon and Alaska.  There are a number of natural and protected areas and parks which are easily accessible along this route.
